Thought of the day

With cross pollination of people happening all over the glob eventually there will come
a time when race is no longer distinguishable by sight. I predict the end of
racism. Looks like people will soon be forced to get to know the individual before
deciding they don't like them. Or perhaps humans will come up with a new way to
decide who they hate, size of pinky finger perhaps.

I wish I could agree with you on the end of racism, but, even us cross pollinated people aren’t free from bigotry. I love being cross pollinated (intriguing term) but that can’t be said for everyone. I know a lot of even cross pollinated people who judge themselves according to the colour of their skin. I have a cousin who is also cross pollinated and she refuses to go out in the sun for fear of becoming “too dark”. She once started crying when my dad commented on her tan (Fortunately, I like to think I go from caramel to milk chocolate, but I’m going off topic) Even if there comes a day when “race is no longer distinguishable by sight” I’m sure the different tones and eye colours will be enough for racist to base their prejudice on.

i love it - cross pollenation! like we're plants or somethin. but ya, not to worry d, we'll find some manner of discrimination. maybe we'll just beef up some of the other more subtle ones like classes as sj pointed out. hey - there's always sexism...

Wow, I thought I was the realist and pessimist. Personally on this one I suspect you may all be right.

But, I believe there’s a chance, so I'm hold on to hope. That is if we don't blow ourselves up with nuclear war first.

Just a side fact, a news program I watched not long ago, estimated that cross pollinated
children and adults will soon out number people who consider their heritage from one location, in Canada, depending on immigration.

interestingly enough, in terms of Statistics Canada, the Ethnic Group called Canadian is a relatively new one (I think people used to say 'Canadian' in the Other line) showing up only officially in the 90's. It is a growing Ethnic Group. And the funny thing is they don't think it's only people like me who go 5 or 6 generations back calling themselves Canadians. They think a lot of it is people who are newly citizens and their kids calling themselves Canadians. (This is as opposed to listing their country of origin as attributing their ethnicity.)

so, sorry, I think you are right... in Canada atleast, I believe there is hope. best not to look at the US or Netherlands...
