Thought of the day
Most people ( personal opinion ) demonstrates a strong outer shell to
the world. Regardless of their true thoughts. Is this a sign of weakness or
strength? I would say weakness. The stronger the shell the weaker the
person. Yet, no shell intimidates people. How strange.
Personally, I'm still trying to figure out how thick my shell is?
How thick is yours?

I believe it’s a sign of personal limitation. The need and desire to hover around false personalities, ‘shell’ is feeble, however I believe everyone has a shell that they hide behind, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s a sign of weakness. People need to be protected, and for some, hiding strong exteriors is the only way to protect them selves from getting hurt.
I agree with what you said, it just seems that this leaves us with a choose. Letting the majority of people not really ever get to know someone or feeling protected. Seems a little disheartening.
I don't think it’s that hard of a choice. Personally, I would much rather deal with that feeling of vulnerability than not ever truly connecting with anyone. The isolation that comes from having a strong outer shell can't be worth the false sense of protection it offers.

And all the men and women merely players:
They have their exits and their entrances;

i usually think of what you're referring to as the performance. do i let down my mask and let you see my true face? or is it better to pretend it's really me so you won't reject me? it's either to deal with rejection when the true you was not rejected.
and i agree with tina. what am i protecting myself from? love? intimacy? friendship? learning? trust? oh heaven forbid... these are some scary forces out there. i'd rather risk it all on these than have nothing.
These are brave statements. Lets put it to a test. Not that anyone is required to post results.
Let down your guard once this week,
assuming you have one to begin with. Evaluate the experience.
The easier it was the smaller is your daily shell.
