Thought of the day

Considering cancer, world famine, nuclear war, and bills you would think I would be able to keep everything else in perspective. Yet for all my logic and patients there are times when people just push my buttons. Emotion is a double edged sword. I hope one day to have total control of
patiences and fustration. As idealistic as that sounds, if I get there, I don't think I would be me anymore.

Not the you that would be recognized by us now no.. but usually change in someone close (if gradual) can go unnoticed til it is at a time where it is so huge that going back might not be possible. There are many reasons for this but still.. it usually goes this way I think.

I know what you mean about that control. There are people who are usually very good at it.. Dan for instance comes across this way.. but D, depending on what happened.. I think you're still pretty even bud

Emotion is an affective state of consciousness.
Emotion is a wonderful sensation. Embrace the fact that you don't have control over your patience and frustration.
Why? Because YOU said so.
"I don't think I would be me anymore"
Now, that's sad.
Appreciate yourself for the YOU in YOU!

Well now, your posts seem to have conflicting angles but all from the same coin.

Sj stated that (my own interpretation) as you mature if you choose to work on sections of yourself eventually and gradually you become the person you want to be. With those traits.

elisabee stated that (my own interpretation) the key is to control your thoughts. Concentrate on the positive. Eventually it will become second nature.

goodman says be yourself.
Be proud of it.

I think elisabee's process is beneficial. I would probably need a jog or something to use up the angry energy, but it’s the right thing to do. Eventually, Sj comments would become true. People would notice a change. A cooler healthier Diogo. Although they probably would say he runs alot.

Now this will take a long time, but you’re right its probably do-able.

Here is the thing. There seems to
always be a thing. Could you imaging if everyone did this. Where would the passion and energy go? Ever find yourself being closer to someone after a really good argument. Or getting to know what someone better in 30 secs after they have blown their top then in months or years of even steven mood.

Summary, There are many things at this point that I need to do to improve myself. Its going to take a while, so I guess I should start. Dwelling on things is one of my biggest issues. This is where elisabee's comments are effective.

Now I do believe I'm kinda even keel, thank you Sj. So perhaps I
won't challenge myself on controlling certain emotions.

This decision just seem so unsophisticated for some reason.
elisabee, I'll start jogging Sunday

it could be argued that there is such thing as too much control. I would probably wind up on your side of that... passion and feeling are definitely driving forces for a lot of good things in life for individuals and communities.

there is a benefit to being able to let go of certain negative emotions though, leaving stuff behind... wiping the dust off your shoes if you will. not harbouring any ill will for another, that kinda thing.

and, ya, I think i agree with sj that you're a pretty even cat.

Yes there is a thing as too much.. but learning to not be so destroyed or affected by the emotions we feel is much better than subliming them or reacting only to them so.. release

please people release

Hmmm, first off dont be too hard on urself D. Sometimes we need to hear what other people think about our reactions to really see that we do a lot better than we think we do. ( our perspective of things are usually skewed..) And on the other hand I agree with the jogging idea.. no matter what happens you will always get somethings that get to you. A state of complete control is usually just an impression (when those people break down-trust me u do not want to be around) In conclusion, work on what you think u should work on. Then u'll feel better as a person in general(kind of what Elisabee was saying.)

Thanks everyone, many good comments. Much to analyze and consider.
That sounds lame, but true.
So, who is up for a jog?
I am actually going on Sunday morning.
Let the releasing begin.
I'll begin by contacting the person that inspired me for this blog, my dad.
